Healthy Tourism

The healthy tourism program aims to facilitate the mobility of patients with chronic illnesses.

The aim is for illness not to be a limiting factor in people's ability to travel for leisure.

The platform therefore has the following objectives:

  • Providing tourists with the possibility of telemonitoring their biometric parameters and sending them to the patient's doctor for evaluation, wherever they are, when they travel anywhere in the world for leisure. This philosophy could also be applied to professional groups, such as business trips.

  • Make it easier for tourists to select the health services they need at their destination, as well as other services related to leisure activities (restaurants, food suitable for their illness, etc.).

  • To provide an integrated solution of health care and leisure services (e.g. tourists who come for treatment, surgery, physical recovery, etc. can have associated leisure offers - gastronomic, cultural, nature, etc. - for themselves and their families).

This program, which was initially conceived for application in Portugal, can be implemented anywhere in the world, if the necessary partnerships are signed.

The potential for intervention in this program is extensive. However, the following stand out:

  • The Teleassistance service to provide communication between tourists and the health services of origin.

  • Treatment and therapeutic adherence services that, during the tourist stay, make it possible to control the stock of medicines and issue confirmations about treatments.

  • Nutrition and dietetic services that allow tourists to select the options that best match their illness condition.

The project's main innovations are:

  • Integrating the tourist offer with services related to the tourist's well-being and safety, in clinical terms;

  • Establishing an efficient communication channel between the tourist and their healthcare providers;

  • Integration with medical devices and other platforms in the tourism and health areas.
